24/11/11 - My initial steps in researching my proposed area of interest took me to the University of Plymouth Library. My plan for this visit was to enable me to source texts, which would critically discuss the ethical use image manipulation. I soon discovered that there was very little written on this topic and work that perhaps indicated a discussion on this topic was actually unavailable. Despite this hurdle I discovered writings on related issues to my area of inquiry, this being the question of identity and portrayal which is intrinsically linked to manipulation of an image be it through a technical process or manipulating the identity of a sitter through wigs, make-up and costume. Either way the Photographer is portraying a ‘manipulation’ of the truth. My Bibliography shows the texts I discovered.
